Whose Image Is On You???
All throughout youth group in junior high and high school my leaders would always mention how important it was to have Christ loving friends. I always just kind of blew it off and thought “I have friends who aren’t close followers of Christ and it isn’t effecting my relationship with Him at all so this doesn’t matter to me.” Wrong.
By my senior year when we gave our goodbye speeches, I was the one up there saying how important it is to have friends who can walk with you in your journey with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 6:14 says:
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”
The part I love about this verse is the end bit, what fellowship has light with darkness? If you think hanging out with a couple non-believers is okay, then you’ll hang out with more of them, and trust me you will stray from your walk with God.
Same thing with relationships! My most recent ex-boyfriend wasn’t a practicing Christian, he believed in God but never put any effort into his walk with the Lord, and before I knew it I stopped putting a lot of effort into mine. It breaks my heart to say that but its true!
